Wootdesk vs Tidio: built for WhatsApp volume, not website widgets

Tidio started as website live chat for online stores and prices on billable conversations: 50 a month on Free, 100 on Starter at US$24.17, up to 2,000 on Growth from US$49.17. Lyro AI and Flows are metered and priced separately on top.

Wootdesk starts from WhatsApp, bills per seat, and includes WootAI without a separate meter. Choose Tidio if most of your conversations begin on your website and you want a chat widget with e-commerce integrations. Choose Wootdesk if customers reach you on WhatsApp first.

A 3-agent team handling 2,000 conversations a month

  • 2,000 conversations in the month, mostly arriving on WhatsApp.
  • Three agents sharing the queue.
  • AI assistance wanted on both platforms.

US$50 (≈ R$269)

Charged in BRL. The USD figure is an estimate at R$5.40/US$1.

Tidio

From ~US$82 with AI

2,000 conversations sits at the top of the Growth band, which starts from US$49.17; Lyro AI is priced on top from US$32.50

Flows automation is a further separate line, from US$24.17 a month, if you want automated sequences.

The base plans land close. The difference is how many meters run at once: Wootdesk charges for seats and includes the AI, while on Tidio the conversation count, the Lyro allowance and the Flows allowance are three separate lines that each move on their own.

Where your conversations start

Tidio's design assumes a visitor lands on your website, sees a chat bubble, and asks a question before buying. Everything follows from that: the widget customisation, the visitor tracking, the e-commerce integrations, the live video call.

Wootdesk assumes the customer already has your WhatsApp number and messages you the way they message everyone else. In Brazil, Iberia, South Asia and much of the Middle East that is simply what happens, and a website widget catches a small share of the volume.

This is the whole decision for most teams. Pull up your own numbers: if the majority of first contacts arrive through your site, Tidio is built for your shape. If they arrive on WhatsApp, it is the other way round.

Three meters running at once

Tidio's Free plan covers 50 billable conversations a month, Starter 100 at US$24.17, Growth up to 2,000 from US$49.17, with Plus from US$300 plus usage. Lyro AI is metered separately — 50 conversations included on Starter, with Growth pricing from US$32.50 a month — and Flows automation starts from US$24.17 a month on its own line.

None of that is hidden; it is all on the pricing page. But it means the monthly cost is the sum of three counters, and a busy month moves all three at once.

Wootdesk runs one counter: seats. Conversations are unlimited, WootAI has no separate allowance, automation rules are included. A campaign month and a quiet month produce the same invoice.

What Tidio does that a WhatsApp inbox does not

Live video calls with a website visitor, visitor tracking on the page they are browsing, deep customisation of the chat widget, and e-commerce integrations for cart and order data. If you run a store and your support is pre-purchase, those features earn their keep.

Wootdesk has no website widget of that depth and does not attempt visitor tracking. Its live chat exists, but the product's centre of gravity is the WhatsApp thread, the shared queue behind it, and the voice channel that lets an agent call the customer back inside the same conversation.

Team shape and the free tier

Tidio's Free plan includes ten seats but only 50 billable conversations a month, which suits a small store with occasional questions and a few people who might answer them.

Wootdesk has no free plan — seven days, no card, then paid. Its entry plan bundles two seats with unlimited conversations, which suits the opposite shape: a small team handling a lot of messages. Neither model is better in the abstract; they are tuned for different volumes.

When Tidio is the better choice

Clear cases where Tidio fits and Wootdesk does not:

  • Most of your conversations start on your website rather than on WhatsApp. That is what Tidio is built for.
  • You run an online store and want cart and order data inside the chat, with integrations built for that.
  • You want live video calls with website visitors — Tidio lists them and Wootdesk does not offer them.
  • Your volume is genuinely small and the free tier's 50 conversations a month covers you.
  • Widget appearance and on-site behaviour matter to your brand and you want fine control over both.

Moving from Tidio to Wootdesk

Most teams moving this direction are shifting emphasis from website chat to WhatsApp, so decide first whether the widget stays.

  1. 1. Check where your conversations actually start

Before anything else, look at the channel split in Tidio's reports. If the website widget still carries meaningful volume, plan to keep something there rather than removing it on migration day.

  2. 2. Export contacts and conversation history

Pull contacts with tags and any custom properties. Historical chats are usually kept read-only in Tidio rather than imported, since chat sessions and WhatsApp threads do not map neatly.

  3. 3. Inventory your Flows and Lyro training

List the automation flows in daily use and note the content Lyro was trained on. That content — help articles, canned answers — is exactly what WootAI needs to draft replies, so it is reusable even though the flows are not.

  4. 4. Set up WhatsApp in the Wootdesk trial

Seven days, no card. Connect the WhatsApp number and rebuild canned responses, business hours, labels and routing rules while Tidio continues serving the website.

  5. 5. Move the widget last, if at all

Point the website chat at Wootdesk once WhatsApp is running smoothly. Some teams keep Tidio on the site for pre-sales and run Wootdesk for everything else, which is a legitimate end state rather than a failed migration.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Tidio cost?
Free covers 50 billable conversations a month with 10 seats. Starter is US$24.17 a month for 100 conversations and Growth starts at US$49.17 for up to 2,000, per Tidio's pricing page in August 2026. Lyro AI and Flows are priced separately.
What is a billable conversation on Tidio?
A conversation counted against your monthly plan allowance. Tidio's tiers are built around that number — 50, 100 and up to 2,000 depending on plan — so cost tracks message volume. Wootdesk does not meter conversations on paid plans.
Is Lyro included in Tidio's plans?
Partly. Starter includes 50 one-off Lyro conversations, and beyond that Lyro is priced on its own tier starting from US$32.50 a month according to the pricing page in August 2026. WootAI is included in every Wootdesk plan with no separate allowance.
Which is better for WhatsApp support?
Wootdesk, by design. It is built around the WhatsApp thread, with a shared queue, assignment rules and a voice channel in the same conversation. Tidio supports WhatsApp but its centre of gravity is the website chat widget it grew from.
Does Wootdesk have a website chat widget?
Yes, but not with Tidio's depth of customisation or visitor tracking, and there is no live video call feature. If the widget and on-site behaviour are central to your support, Tidio does that job better than Wootdesk does.
Does either offer a free plan?
Tidio does, at 50 billable conversations a month with 10 seats. Wootdesk does not — it runs a seven-day trial with no credit card, then paid plans from around US$28 a month for two seats with unlimited conversations.
Can I run both at the same time?
Yes. A common arrangement keeps Tidio on the website for pre-sales questions while WhatsApp support runs in Wootdesk. They connect to different channels, so there is no conflict beyond having two dashboards to watch.
